Superhuman Green Smoothie - Bio-Alai Friendly

Created by Meaghan to support gut health, brain clarity, glowing skin, and day-long vitality. This super delicious smoothie is quick to make - and as it's full of protein, good fats and just the right amount of low GI carbs, it will keep you satiated and fully charged till lunch.

Prep Time: 5 mins

Serves: 1

Ingredients

  • ½ apple or pear*

  • ¼ avocado

  • Large handful fresh or frozen spinach / kale / silverbeet / broccoli / bok choy / cucumber / zucchini / sprouts

  • Small handful parsley

  • 1 tbsp non flavoured hemp protein powder**

  • 1 tbsp flaxseeds or flaxseed oil

  • 2 scoops My Alai Multisystem Support Formula (optional)***
  • 1/2 tsp green banana flour****

  • 4 ice cubes

  • ½ cup water

Directions 

  1. Blend together on high for 2 minutes till smooth and creamy, if it's a bit thick add some more water and blend.*****

  2. Pour into a big glass and enjoy.

Notes

  • If you find the smoothie a bit strong on your digestion, then reduce the amount of greens for a few days and then slowly increase.
  • *If you have any asthma, eczema symptoms then I suggest an apple over a pear. Some people have sensitivities to the salicylates in pears. Blueberries are always a great option though not as sweet. 
  • *In warmer climates paw paw is a good low GI option and 1/2 banana is a high GI option if you are not trying to lose weight, exercise regularly, and don’t have blood sugar imbalances
  • **If you have an autoimmune disease, use amino acids instead of protein powder. Aminos can be bitter, so I prefer to have them in capsule form and enjoy my smoothie. The other option is to not add protein powder and have 2 eggs or another protein on the side. 
  • **It’s also important to change your source of protein regularly as your body can build up an immune response to a protein powder if you use it over a longer period. Try swapping Hemp protein and Amino Acids each day. I recommend the amino acid powder taken with Orange stevia drops separately to the smoothie as the flavour is strong and bitter.
  • NOTE: Collagen powder is not recommended as it’s high in histamines, and over the long term can cause immune responses in the body. If you don’t have any autoimmune conditions and want to include them, then use 1 tsp collagen powder. Collagen powders are high in 3 amino acids, but only marine collagen has the amino acid profile that gets to the skin. Bovine collagen is helpful for digestion, though, for both sources of collagen, the body still needs the other 6 amino acids to function, so having collagen powder on its own is not particularly helpful. Homemade bone broth or fish with the skin on are more bioavailable sources of collagen for the digestion and skin, and not as high in histamines (as histamines are condensed in collagen powders.)

  • **** Start with 1/4 teaspoon of green banana flour and slowly work up to 1 teaspoon as it can make you bloated. 1 teaspoon per day is a recommended dose for gut health, however, you may want to stick with 1/4 teaspoon if you are wanting to lose weight.
  • ***** You may like to prep ahead by portioning out fruit, avocado, greens and parsley into bags for each day for a week and put in the freezer. This will make the mornings easier and faster.

 

Creating Longevity

Once you have completed your Bio-Alia gut health protocol and you would like to keep having smoothies every day, follow this protocol for longevity.

Alternating every day for 6 days between hemp protein & amino acids - and on the 7th day fast until mid-morning. Enjoy a brunch.

NOTE: Not ingesting protein puts the body into a state of autophagy, which helps clear out damaged and zombie cells which in turn supports your health and longevity.

NOTE. If you have coffee before mid morning on your fasting day, have it black as adding milk with take you out of a fasting state.
